Rugby mums of yore! |
Now it’s time to give something back. This Sunday 10th March is your big chance to show her what a model son you really are. So, without further ado, here are my tips for making sure your mum feels appreciated this Mother’s Day.
1. GET HER A CARD
- Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But one in twenty people admit to forgetting to send their mum a Mother’s Day card. It’s not difficult, and, trust me, it will bring a smile to her face. Set up a reminder on your phone if needs be, or just get your wife or girlfriend to remember for you. My mum prefers cards that say ‘Mummy’ on them instead of ‘Mother’ or ‘Mum’, as she claims it makes her feel young…but maybe that’s just her. If you’re short on cash, a mere card and a hug will show you care.
2. DON’T SPEND A FORTUNE
- You may be surprised to read that most mums hate the thought of their hard-working sons and daughters splashing pennies they don’t have on extravagant gifts. After all, it is a highly commercialised day and clichéd Mother’s Day gifts are often grossly bumped up in price to capitalise on this. Keep it simple – make her breakfast in bed, take her to lunch, pick her up some lovely spring flowers (daffodils and lilies are favourites of mine), do the dishes. Do something she will appreciate that doesn’t cost much. Just spend time with her. If you live far away, a simple phone call or Skype chat will do the trick.
3. KEEP HER TOASTIE
